When Forward Midwifery needed to be heard above the noise around reproductive rights during the 2024 election, we knew only the most unflinching musical choice could match the stakes.

Working with agency Tall Poppy, we supervised and licensed Martha Wainwright's searing "Bloody Mother Fucking Asshole" for their provocative campaign film "Reproductive Refrain". The song’s raw and uncompromising message perfectly embodied the fury and urgency women felt about their bodily autonomy being on the ballot.

At the 2025 AMP Awards for Music & Sound, "Reproductive Refrain" took home both the Ryan Barkan Best in Show Award and Best Use of a Licensed, Pre-Existing Recording… An important recognition from our peers, that sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is find the perfect song to speak for a moment.
